Flat, greyed colours are the bane of many painters but, no more.
Marilyn Timms SFCA SCA has adapted an approach to
colour mixing that begins with primary colours and creates a manageable, flexible way to
control the mixes so clean, clear paint colour is achieved, every time, all the time. It is based
on simple colour theory and it applies beautifully to acrylics. It saves money (less tubes of colour needed) and
time (quick and direct). This approach is very helpful for all levels of painters, beginner to advanced and includes
excellent materials to take home with you.

Mixing Colour:
The first day will be spent exploring a new (and easy to grasp) way to learn COLOUR MIXING. Marilyn Timms SFCA SCA has adapted an approach that begins with primary colours and creates a manageable, flexible way to control the mixes so clean, precise paint colour is achieved, every time, all the time. It is based on simple colour theory and it applies beautifully. It saves money (less tubes of colour needed) and time (quick and direct). This approach is very helpful for all levels of painters, beginner to advanced and includes excellent materials to take away. The remainder of the seminar will focus on the step by step building up of thickness and textured effects to create stunning and unusual impact in each day's project. Explore the magic of light and how it reflects - from rivers to glass, reflections and light patterns catch our eye at every turn and we yearn to capture them in paint. Participants will be lead through techniques step by step to explore in depth their chosen subject.
Learn about and share the rich experience of Timms techniques in a safe and nurturing environment.

Workshop - Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 22nd, 23rd and 24th, 2009
9:30 am to 3:30 pm
New and exciting ways to create beautiful art is the hallmark of master painter Marilyn Timms. Having explored transparent watercolors intensively, Timms has turned her formidable energies to working with acrylic paints in the flowing, elegant techniques she is known for. For those who find watercolors difficult, this approach removes many of the barriers they face. For experienced acrylic painters, this is something very new to try. Over the three days of the hands-on workshop, participants will receive step by step instructions and feedback so they can immerse themselves in this unique method of wet-into-wet painting - using the best of both mediums to craft beautiful pieces of paper. Supplies are not included (click HERE to view list).
This seminar runs for three days 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (1/2 hour lunch) and the fee is $170 per participant. Class size is limited, so contact the Museum by email (click HERE) or
Phone (250) 334-0686 to reserve your place.
